Our next issue, the Ninth Anniversary Issue, is due out in December 2016. We are currently accepting submissions for Issue 33, scheduled for publication in March 2017.

If you are interested in having your work considered for inclusion in Cha, please read our submission guidelines carefully.


  • Apart from "Lost Teas" submissions, all work must be original and previously unpublished.
  • Include a brief biography of no more than 100 words.
  • Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but notify us at as soon as possible if a particular piece is accepted elsewhere.
  • Feedback: Although we are very willing to comment on published pieces (see our "A Cup of Fine Tea" column), please note that we are unable to provide feedback on all submitted work. 
  • Copyright: Authors retain all rights. Please give credit to Cha: An Asian Literary Journal if your work subsequently appears elsewhere in print or online. 
  • Payment: We regret we are unable to pay our contributors at this time.
  • Response time: Within 4 months. Please query after this time has lapsed.
  • Nominations: Cha commits to nominating contributors' work for awards and recognition. Nominations are announced on the Cha blog.
